ANGLOFONNÍ ZÁKLADNÍ ŠKOLA
EDUCATION FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE

REFERENCE

Z toho důvodu ho i zde ponecháváme v původní verzi (jména maminky a zájemce jsme odstranili).

 Dear Mr. S.,

I am very pleased to provide you with some feedback and experience we have so far with joining Anglofonni zakladni skola.

First of all, I would like to mention that our son did not speak and especially did not understand native English before joining this school. As many kids, he knew just few basic words (colors, animals, Thank you, Hello, How are you). After really few months, we see his understanding has rapidly improved and now he is able to put some longer sentences together. What we really appreciate is his pronunciation, which he can only learn from the native speaker and only in his jung age. This is something Mr. Dvorak is really taking care about and you will not find it in many Czech schools.

Another thing, which I would like to stress is the way how the class and the day is being organized.

The teacher is their friend! The teacher does not insists on the standard length of lesson (45 minutes). If he/she sees the kids are not able to pay more attention or need a brake, they just change the activity/topic/make a brake regardless of time.

Also I have noticed that whole autumn the kids were spending a lot of time outside - getting know the nature (trees, plants, colors of autumn), instead of sitting in the class and learning such stuff from the book.

As you probably know the majority of subjects are in English, but what I really like is a parallel between some subject in Czech and English (the name of planets, trees, plants, animals, traffic in the city etc.). Thanks this the kids exactly know the Czech and English equivalent.

The last benefit I would like to highlight is a fact that the kids are in fact getting fully private education. In all Czech state grammar schools, there are typically around 25 - 30 kids. You can imagine how often one child may say something, how often the teacher can pay attention to such child. In this school, the kids are talking all the day, have to pay 100% attention and this is just due to a fact that they are just few.

Maybe, you may have a question in mind like what about the socialization with other kids. Yes, this might be considered as the only one disadvantage. However, our son is joining the after school every day and there is much bigger group of kids, but still a reasonable one, not too large. In the after school the kids are having many activities - all in English and the socialization here is definitely resolved.

We personaly prefer the private education and than the socialization follows up.

I think, the best mirror of satisfaction is our son himself. Every morning he hurries up to school and loves both teachers - Bara and Ed. During the weekend he constantly asks when he will go to school again. Believe me, he is not the kind who would like to do some home work or learn something which is mandatory, but thanks Bara and Ed he is doing it in the natural way without any resistance.

By the way, the kids are getting the only one home work for a whole week. The reason?? Just few kids in the class and they have enough time to do all during the day.

Hope, i gave you some flavor of the way how Mr. Dvorak’s school is being driven.

Should you have more questions or should you wish to meet me personally, I remain on your disposal.

Have a nice day,

P. R.

Nedávno jsme obdrželi další referenci, kterou maminka našeho žáka, který nastoupil do prvního ročníku ve školním roce 2019/2020 napsala své kolegyni v říjnu 2019 a nedlouho poté nám ji přeposlala. Opět ponecháváme v původním znění, maminka je občankou Evropské unie a svou zprávu psala v anglickém jazyce.

Finding a school was really stressful. We knew that public school was not something that we wanted but all these recruitment were a real pain. He was accepted to S. school located around Nove Butovice, and we were considering this school too. Finally we decided for Anglofonni school.

The recruitment was painless. The school adjusted to our schedule, they were flexible as it comes to setting up the meeting. The meeting itself was really not stressful for the kid, it was more for us to see the school rather than for them to test the child back and forth.

We are satisfied with the school. And among the others the advantages are:

- this is Czech - English school. They are following Czech Educational Program Framework design by Ministry of Czech Education. Some subjects are in Czech and the rest in English. Kids from 2nd grade and higher communicates in English already.

- classes are really small. Second and first grade together has 8 learners. The entire school has 14 pupils. There is 1, 2, 3 and 4 grade so far. Their approach to the kids is really individual

- there are 2 natives teachers (one from UK, one from US). Two other teachers are Czech, and there is one teacher assistant

- M. is behind the other kids with reading and writing. So he works with the assistant to catch up

- M. is bit advanced as it comes to math, so his teacher Marketa gives him more difficult stuff during maths lessons

- teachers are friendly, I can say they have good insight into kids. Teachers have time for parents, and are open to chat whenever there is a need

- they have an English after school club

- the school manager and owner Mr Zdenek Dvorak is very decent, friendly and open for feedback. He listens to what the parents say. His two sons are in the school

for disadvantages that we can see so far:

- kids are not staying outside as much as they could. While we understand the time at school, then with the after school club they should be outside more. I will definitely be speaking to the teachers and insisting on this case

- food, they can at the public school canteen. M. likes it, but the food can't be consider healthy that is for sure. But you can't have everything, can you?

Summarizing it can be a good option for parents who are not for public school, but at the same time they do not trust montessori approach or other alternative ways of learning. The school is worth considering for sure.

Když jsme maminku požádali, zda zprávu, kterou nám přeposlala, můžeme umístit na naše internetové stránky, dodala následující:

And it looks that there are more and more things that M. likes about it. Just recently he started to ask for the piano (!!) :-). We didn't know what the reason was, since we are not a music family at all. Than finally, after some time he said that it is not maybe about him learning how to play the piano, but more because Lucie is very nice and he would like to attend the lessons :-)
